Monday November 29, 2007...Goodbye Jenn




Said a sad good bye to Jenn this morning...it was a very nice (but way too short) visit, comforted knowing we will all be together again in 2 weeks...yeah!!

While Jenn was here we were able to do some sightseeing and lots of good eating..a recap:

Food
Thanksgiving dinner cooked by us - miraculously we all survived!
Noodle Bar
Two yummy breakfasts at Patisserie
Fish and Chips
Pasta at Il Portico
Wonderful dinner in the country inn
Pizza Express - twice it was so good

Things we did do:
Tower of London
British Transport Museum
Tour of Ancient Roman City of Bath
Yoga and massage - ahhhh
Watched Rachel's netball game - they won!!
Lots of Tube and bus rides

Things that didn't work out -
British Museum - Noodle Bar looked more fun than ancient Egyptian artifacts
Windsor Castle (no place to park - too crowded)
Tea at Kensington Palace (private party)
Dinner at Nobu - girls were grumpy because it was a school night

Poor Jenn needed to balance touristy things, with our daily life and Thanksgiving for 15 thrown in...the girls loved spending time with her as, of course, did I. Safe travels Jenn....miss you already.

Other items - heading home in 2 weeks for the Christmas Holiday - can't wait to spend time with all of you.

Bob's holiday Christmas party and the girls class Christmas parties are next week - lots to do to prepare...this time of year is always overwhelming...I am remembering last year, it was all so much of a blurr...we were on the eve of our great foreign adventure, so unsure what our lives would be like...I am happy with the way it has turned out...the girls are happy here, and Bob and I really like living in this fun city..if it weren't for the homesickness.

Lauren did well on her exams - all A's but one -well done Lolo - you worked hard and the results speak for themselves!

Megan's reading is great, she can now read, want, help, and Mum and Dad - she laughs when she reads Mum instead of Mom...:)

Rachel is at drama and has started classes for her Holy Communion - but they held her back and she is not happy about it.

Need to run to get the girls - love to all..

Monte Carlo- Casino Royale- Yachts, Casinos, shopping, Royalty and wealth    oMG this city had some serious high rollers! Yachts, insane cars and shopping for the Uber wealthy.  Bob and I joined the morning walking tour, saw the Prince’s Palace, enjoyed the splendid views from a seaside park on the bluff and then went back to the boat to change for the Casino Royale!!    Well, sadly I didn’t bring my passport so no entry for me- Bob popped in while I browsed the shops.  $100 poorer in 45 minutes we grabbed an outside table at the Hotel du Paris in the square and people watched and I was introduced to my new favorite drink- the Chandon Spring spritz. Coming to a Stef party near you. Casino! Hotel du Paris with Casino in background Headed back…can you see out ship behind us? So great we were able to see the city at night!  Scrabble followed by a little community puzzle work…

Update - 2010 and 2011

Easter 2011 in Connecticut   We did a whirlwind 4 day trip back to 06443 and had a nice visit with the family and enjoyed egg hunts, golden eggs on a foggy beach, and family time in Madison...it was still cold and grey - but only 9 weeks until Summer 2011! Book Signing with James Frey Lauren and I went to a Grazia book club signing with James Frey, author of Million Little Pieces, and his latest book, The Final Testament of the Holy Bible...he described his being dropped by his US publisher after the Oprah public flogging, but enjoys being in Europe and has released his latest book overseas only..Lauren got her book signed and we had one signed for Tommy who was a MLP fan. Disney Paris - April 2011 with Oki and Meg While Rachel was on her ski trip to Montgenievre in France, and Lauren was studying for her GCSE exams, I took Meg and her friend to Disney Paris for 4 days...it was pure innocent bliss - the girls were so happy and appreciative it was a real enjoyabl...

The Cruise- Thursday- Corsica

 After a rough night at sea we slept thru our 8 am tour and woke almost at noon.  Hopped off the ship and grabbed a quick lunch in the port area at a lovely French restaurant (mole et frites and lasagna) before  boarding next to a massive Virgin cruise ship for a 2:30 departure.   Sorry Napoleon-  we missed seeing your birthplace  We continued the scrabble tournament (5-4. Amy) and then to reading on the back of the ship under a blanket as we steamed thru the beautiful Med passing lovely islands and enjoying a little tea and cake.  Room service and movie Otto and in bed by 9:30!    Quiet day!  Sadly no photos.  Xo
