The Cruise - Friday- Sardinia


 I have two words to describe Sardinia: graffiti and purple trees.  Both found in abundance in the gritty ancient port town of Calglieri.

Monte Carlo- Casino Royale- Yachts, Casinos, shopping, Royalty and wealth    oMG this city had some serious high rollers! Yachts, insane cars and shopping for the Uber wealthy.  Bob and I joined the morning walking tour, saw the Prince’s Palace, enjoyed the splendid views from a seaside park on the bluff and then went back to the boat to change for the Casino Royale!!    Well, sadly I didn’t bring my passport so no entry for me- Bob popped in while I browsed the shops.  $100 poorer in 45 minutes we grabbed an outside table at the Hotel du Paris in the square and people watched and I was introduced to my new favorite drink- the Chandon Spring spritz. Coming to a Stef party near you. Casino! Hotel du Paris with Casino in background Headed back…can you see out ship behind us? So great we were able to see the city at night!  Scrabble followed by a little community puzzle work…

October 2009 Scotland

(Turnberry Resort) One of my favorite things about living in London is the ability to take a weekend trip to a new place..and there are so many wonderful, new places for us to explore...but I live with a family of home bodies who are happy to just veg on the weekend...so I push and pull and they are all happy, once we get there. We spent a long weekend in Scotland, at the Turnberry Resort in Ayr Scotland. We flew one hour to Glasgow then drove one hour...the hotel is stunning and the staff welcoming and helpful.. Here is the view from our hotel room when we woke up - we saw the sea, Ireland, rabbits, pheasants, sheep, dogs, cows and horses..from this window: In the background is an island called Aisla Craig - an uninhabited island is formed from the volcanic plug of an extinct volcano. The island was a haven for Catholics during the Scottish Reformation in the 16th century, but is today a bird sanctuary for puffins and other birds. The Cruise- Thursday- Corsica

 After a rough night at sea we slept thru our 8 am tour and woke almost at noon.  Hopped off the ship and grabbed a quick lunch in the port area at a lovely French restaurant (mole et frites and lasagna) before  boarding next to a massive Virgin cruise ship for a 2:30 departure.   Sorry Napoleon-  we missed seeing your birthplace  We continued the scrabble tournament (5-4. Amy) and then to reading on the back of the ship under a blanket as we steamed thru the beautiful Med passing lovely islands and enjoying a little tea and cake.  Room service and movie Otto and in bed by 9:30!    Quiet day!  Sadly no photos.  Xo
