Spring in Paris has nothing on Spring in London. This city is alive and in bloom every where you look...we spend lots of time walking in Holland Park enjoying the sites. They do opera every night in the park, and there are families and dogs everywhere...we met a woman with a jack russel/beagle mix named Rio last Friday who was thrilled to have the girls throw the ball for him for a few minutes...then Sunday we saw them again and she had brought a book and was thrilled to see us..she sat in the sun and read while the girls threw the ball for one hour...Rio loved it too!!

I finished my Kensington Chelsea Woman's Club architectural series this week. Every Tuesday from 10-12 I would travel with the group to see buildings and learn about the different architectural styles of the period, how styles evolve, change and who influenced the changes. The more I learn the more ignorant I feel. I come home and google this style, that architect, this home or that window style. The woman who lead the group was a wonderful British woman - educated at Cambridge and married to an American. They are gutting and renovating a house in our neighborhood - she said she is driving her architect crazy - she knows much more than him I am sure!! This was one of the highlights of my time here and can't wait for more in the fall.

Megan had a field trip to a puppet show yesterday and really enjoyed it - perfectly sunny day. She sadly said goodbye to her good friend Nebula who is moving back to her country this week.

Last weekend sort of felt like a weekend in American...Lauren had a sleepover at a friends house, Rachel had a friend sleep here, then on Saturday Rachel's class had an end of school party at someone's home. It was a lovely lunch outside under a tent. The kids were entertained by a silly games man and the parents were dressed up and drinking pimms..very english. The conversation and drinks flowed and the afternoon was very pleasant.

We met our US friends the Nellis at a BBQ hosted by a co worker of Bob's...outside under the trees while the children ran around with a puppy..the sun doesn't set until almost 10pm, so needless to say we were out too late on a school night. The Nellis' moved to London from Wilton for 2 years and came back for a visit to see friends. It was fun to spend time with them and share experiences and impressions of this GE provided experience.

We started taking French lessons on Saturday mornings. Geraldine is our instructor and we had a lot of fun...wait 'till you hear Bob speaking french..I may video tape it next week when he isn't looking. Lauren has a real aptitude for languages and is doing very well. Rachel and Meg couldn't be bothered.

Rachel's good friend Grey is coming to London today, and we are meeting them for tea at the Ritz on Friday and Rachel is sleeping over at the Ritz- very posh!!

A huge Whole Foods Market opened here this week next to the Tube...it is huge news and the lines are enormous...a wonderful addition to the neighborhood once the gawking phase is over.

On the friend front, I have met some very nice woman on my Tuesday program. We also have a group that meets for coffee and some laughs and I also am starting to meet some friends of friends that people have been kind enough to introduce me too..I no longer feel lonely, and am appreciative of the wonderful experience we are having here...

Can't wait to see you all in a few weeks..

Love
Amy
