Friday February 2nd..all is well...learning the currency
Happy Birthday Fran!! I heard you went to "The Pot" for dinner. I am sure you were done with dinner and home by 5:30. I will call you at work today and wish you a Happy Birthday.
Life as Americans in London is settling in. Rachel seems better each day..learning her 8 times tables like all the other girls so no gaps this week. She is enjoying her swimming lessons and gymnastic classes and I think they are reading Charlotte's web (second time for her this year). They are playing the recorder and the tooting practice is so wonderful :(
I canceled this weeks Skype with her class, she needs to get a bit stronger I think until we are ready for that one.
They are learning money in maths..so we are finally getting our brains around the different currency..a fun lesson for all of us with the coins.
Lauren likes her needlework class and is doing some interesting reading and was moved up into the High Math Group - Brenda take a deep breath. They are going quicker than she is used to but she is hanging in for now. I am sure we will have to pay the piper (or the outrageously overpriced tutor, I should say) when we return to GFA..but for a middle school girl to have high self esteem now, we will gladly pay later.
We ride the bus to school often with a girl from Lauren's class who lives on the next street - she is adorable and fun to talk to. Megan holds her hand and it is cute.
Megan has Pajama day today at school and is looking forward to it. Diego in Megan's class has Scarlett fever, and Kata went home feeling yucky yesterday. I made some calls and we now have a doctor if/when we fall ill.
I found out last night that our street is patrolled every night by security with 2 German Shepard's..I slept like a log after hearing that. Extra security courtesy of a neighbor. I must remember to thank them if I ever meet them. I must remember to bring the fellow some coffee before I go to sleep - a double shot.
Bob has been around all week and the girls really enjoy his company..me too.
Jenn - waiting for an update..disappointed when I opened the emails this morning.
Cindy's home pc is not working..if you need to get her a message email her at the office address. I can give it to you if you don't have it.
Happy Groundhogs Day..it should be spring soon I predict! This has to be the mildest winter I remember.
Two weeks to Miami!!! Lauren's friend Ellen will be there with us at the same time - super fun!
