Friday February 16th - off to the sunny side of the Pond!

We are so excited...not that we don't love our newly adopted city of London..we do...but we are heading to Miami...to the sunny side of the pond.

I can't wait for the soft white sand, palm trees, orchids growing out of trees and the balmy humid air. Bob left for a meeting at the airport this morning and we are meeting him there in a few hours. YEAH!!!

I spoke to Deb last night, and I think Grammy and Grampy are ready for their big adventure...they will be happy to return to the quiet of their nest with Jack after a few days with Rachel and Megan :)

Emily, I saw your adorable Just Moved card..my dad showed it to me on Skype yesterday...you are my hero...do you ever sleep?

Megan was home from school all week for her break - they call it Half Term - so the amount of sightseeing was severely curtailed. Here is a recap of the week with Megan:
  • Laundry
  • Grocery shopping at a real store where we drove, parked and filled the Mini trunk with as much as we could fit.
  • Laundry
  • Packing
  • Lots of chocolate croissants
  • Matinee of Charlotte's Web - Molly - For your information Pig, the Rat Rules!

Yesterday was the weekly bake sale at the girls school and the 3rd grade class was in charge, so Megan and I pitched in and helped out..see photo above..Megan is halfway down on the left trying to decide..some amazing baking was done by these mummies...(The large chocolate chip cookies in the front right I picked up at our bakery moments before - which actually were a fast sell out)..still haven't figured out how to use my stove without burning everything. We probably raised 60 pounds for the school in two hours...not a bad idea..they do it every Thursday and the kids love it..they collect the money and hand out the treats.

I had a nice time chatting away with some nice mom's in Rachel's class..thankfully there were enough other moms who actually worked :)

On Tuesday Rachel's school invited the parents to learn how they teach math at the school. Its an ancient method called the Verdic Method , general multiplication is taught vertically and crosswise and subtraction is called on top of the flag...We spent time on subtracting double and triple digit numbers..they start on the left and borrow that way. The teacher was a hoot, she would work out this complex math problem on the board, then turn around and say, Wasn't that fun?! I was dying.

I am happy to have a class to demonstrate..visit website for more information:

When Rachel first showed me how she did I told her she was doing it wrong and we had a big fight. Now I know that math can be done in many different ways..neat.

Anyway, as this entire adventure continues to point out to me, there is more than one way of doing things. I think that is one of the many things I am meant to learn from this adventure...my way isn't the only way, and to be open to new things. So I try every day to be open and take things as they come.

Blah Blah Blah..I should go and make beds..

OH....MOST EXCELLENT BOOK for the Book Club..read it in three days and will read it again soon now that I know how it ends..Interpretation of Murder...AWSOME historical thriller set in NYC before the depression..please read asap!! (My cover is different than yours)

As a footnote to past Book Club selections, Bob's assistant Irene said she purchased Bob's Best Seller at the Barnes and Noble bookstore in Boston...if you are in a B&N let me know if you see it there..cool...he thought it would only be available on line..I am sure they place it right at the store's entrance on a big display next to Danielle Steel...Would love to hear if you see it..

Love you all...
You can reach us on my US cell phone all week..
