Tuesday Jan 9th - Rachel goes to school

Hello all..I am tired tonight so this may be brief..Megan did some bed hopping last night and I missed my well needed beauty sleep. :) Rachel headed off to school today - yea - she was soo soo cute in her uniform..I will send a photo...a little jittery when she hit the classroom but at pick up she had made a friend - Sienna and was asking to do a playdate. :) I met with her teacher mid morning to drop off her "trainers" for "sports" (i.e, sneakers for pe) and she said Rachel was doing well. Rachel said her teacher treated her the same as all the others, it made her feel good. One of the other moms remarked we were lucky to have Mrs Tomlinson, she was tops. Good to know. 

 We had a meeting after school to discuss a field trip in June that Lauren's class will go on, to The Manor House in Devon, near the sea..well, its 3 hours away and they do sports (outside activities, archery, swimming) as well as crafts..sounds like fun. http://www.manorhousehotel.co.uk/default.asp At the meeting I met a mom from Redding, CT, two towns away from Westport. They moved here in August with a 12 year old and a 16 year old, and they are doing pretty well - somewhat homesick she said. Small world. Other moms were very nice as well..very welcoming environment..

Megan busted up the party and then we fled. They served tea and biscuits (cookies)..very nice. Megan is doing very well with School so far and Lauren has her first Latin test tomorrow.. Porto, portas, portanmus. 

 Rachel had fun catching up with her classmates at GFA on Skype tonight..great tool for keeping in touch. Speaking of, I am happy to report our furniture arrives tomorrow at 9am..we have no phone or internet service yet so it may be a while until we are back on the world wide web. I am somewhat sad to leave this wonderful hotel which has been a wonderful escape from the chores of daily life..back to the real world and no room service!!
