Thursday Jan 4th - Lauren's first Day of School
Well Lauren did "brilliantly" as they say here for her first day...up and at 'um at 6am, showered, braided and uniformed..we arrived at St. James 30 minutes early..oops..
Her teacher thankfully also an early bird. We met many of her new classmates and the teacher took her around and made many introductions, showed her her desk and when we left she was all smiles. At pick up time I got there early and she passed me in the hall with some friends.. again all smiles. It was an easy day back, not too much work and no homework yet.
Her comments in the evening were: girls are nice, teachers mostly nice, math teacher not too nice, food is vegetarian but ok, girls very very polite -"please pass","would you like some, etc..
Full uniform inspection tomorrow..not sure what that is or if she will pass...cut the new girl some slack I hope.
Meanwhile, Megan, Rachel and I went to see Megan's preschool - called the International Community School. Full of international children, some from countries I had never heard of. She really liked the school and her classroom and we will drop her for her first day tomorrow. She will go 4 days a week. Cute place, good for her to keep up with her Portuguese. Small class, only about 6 kids, one other American, two from Dubai or some country like that, one from Belgium and one from some place I have never heard of..more on that when I ask again.
They go to play in Regents Park twice a day..very nice playground. She can take the bus to and fro once we move into the house..not sure on that one yet, even though she is excited to do it.
So that is today's report..a good day..Rachel is wishing she was in school...only a few more days for her..tomorrow I am going to take her to the Victoria and Albert Museum...lucky girl.

PS - it did not rain today..actually sunny and about 45..not bad..I need to keep a weather chart on this blog to track percentage of rain.
